ipsCA,
company specializing in digital signature solutions and the online
provision of digital certificates has announced this 80% increase in
digital certificate sales over 2002 results.
According
to recent Nielsen/Net Ratings, 2.8 million Europeans made online digital
certificate purchases in June of 2004, in comparison to the 2.1 million
buyers during the same period of the previous year, representing an
increase of 31%. A prime factor behind this growth is the increase of
the public’s confidence in digital transactions due to governmental
support for online security. Digital
Certificates are employed within the online transaction, confirming an
Internet user’s identification, providing authentication and
encrypting the subsequent transmission.
Secure purchases between the buyer’s PC and the seller’s
website are now a reality.
Digital
Certificate technology is consistent with EU secure electronic signature
requirements, providing legal recognition to electronic signature
processes, since it contributes the security necessary to irrefutably
identify the certificate holder.
When
applied to email, the ipsCA
e-mail Certificates grant security to the electronic messages
based on a standard S/MIME protocol. Through this application e-mails can be signed by the sender, validating his
authorship, or configured to ensure that only the designated recipient
may read the message. Further,
Digital Certificates increase the security of and confidence in a client-servant
Web – allowing the network nodes and the servers to authenticate each
to the other. With
total certainty, information residing on or moving around the corporate
intranet is secure.
ipsCA’s
certificates have passed the quality control requirements of major
software development Companies including Microsoft, which has
incorporated ipsCA
Certificates within the default set of available Digital Certificates in
all its Windows O/S and other relevant software solutions since 1998.
