SSL Certificate CSR Creation for IChain

How to generate a CSR in Novell IChain 2.2 or 2.3 Web Server

1) In the I-Chain Management utility, select Home and click on the Certificate Maintenance tab.

2) Type a Certificate name for your new Certificate (anything you will recognize).

3) In the 'Subject name' field, type the common name (domain name) of your site.

4) Choose 'RSA encryption with SHA-1 Hash' as the signature algorithm.

5) Select 1024 bits for your key size.

6) Choose to use an external certificate authority and fill out your company information.

7) Click OK.

8) This will generate your new CSR. Copy and paste the new CSR including the 'Begin' and 'End' lines to the ipsCA order form.

How to generate a CSR in previous versions of Novell IChain Web Server

1) In your web-browser, start the IChain Manager by typing http://yourIChain:1959/appliance/config.html.

2) Choose the Home-Certificate Maintenance tab, then click on Create.

3) Enter your DN information in the appropriate fields, and click OK.

4) Clicking Apply will then create your CSR.

5) Choose 'View the CSR' to copy and paste the CSR (including the BEGIN and END tags) into the ipsCA web form.

 SSL Certificate Installation in IChain

Installing your Certificate in Novell Ichain 2.2 or 2.3

1) Download the Primary and Intermediate certificate files from ipsCA website (certs.ipsca.com).

2) Copy and paste the contents of the Intermediate Certificate File (IPSCACLASEA1.crt) to the 'CA Certificate Contents' Field as shown below.

3) Copy and paste the contents of your Primary Certificate File (your_domain_name.crt) to the 'Server Certificate Contents' Field as shown below.

Installing your Certificate in older versions of Novell Ichain

1) Download the Primary, Intermediate, and Root certificate files from ipsCA website (certs.ipsca.com).

2) You'll need to create a single SSL Certificate from the intermediate and root certificates. To do so, open a text editor (like NotePad), and paste in the contents of your intermediate certificate. Then paste in the contents of the root certificate. (In both cases, you must include the BEGIN and END tags.) Save this new certificate as ipsCAbundle.pem

3) Now, go to ConsoleOne and open the ICS container for your iChain server, and open the certificate.

4) Under the Certificates tab, click on Import. Then choose Read from File, and find the new ipsCAtbundle.pem certificate you created.
